Features

  1. 1An innovative K-12 school
LAIS is a Cambridge International accredited K-12 integrated school from 2 year-old kindergarten to high school founded in 2002. While emphasising on bilingual +α education (including Japanese language classes using textbooks used at local schools and Chinese language classes as mandatory language courses), STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), and critical thinking skills, we nurture global-minded persons who are able to take an active part in this 21st century.
  2. 2Cambridge International accredited
Cambridge International is the world’s largest international education institution with a history of over 150 years and more than 10,000 accredited schools in 160 countries around the world. Our students are provided with a high quality curriculum developed by this institution. Moreover, by taking the Cambridge International standard examinations, IGCSE and A level, which can be taken at our school, we provide the pathway to enter top-notch universities in Japan and the world.
  3. 3High quality but reasonable fees
In general, international schools have rather high tuition fees which limit the number of families who can afford to join. On the other hand, LAIS was established with the desire to provide high quality international education at a more affordable tuition fee level. By reducing the facilities expenses, we have successfully been able to reduce the tuition fees to about 60% compared to that of other international schools.

Kindergarten

Age: 2-5 years old

The Kindergarten curriculum is built in a way that students are able to smoothly start their Cambridge elementary curriculum when they finish the learnings at the Kindergarten division. Not only will children improve their English skills by immersing themselves in a 100% English language environment, they will also be able to become independent learners through the process of building up their social skills, communication skills, and thinking skills. At this age, children have full curiosity, making it the most suitable timing to gain true English communication skills, thinking skills as well as cross-cultural understanding skills.

Elementary School

Age: 5-11 years old

Under the Cambridge Primary framework, Year 1 corresponds to Nencho (the final year of kindergarten in the Japanese education system). In order to build the basics as a “global person”, Japanese language classes conducted at the same speed as public Japanese schools as well as Chinese classes from Year 5 are provided in addition to the five core areas of learning including English, Mathematics, Science, ICT and Global Perspectives.

Middle School

Age: 11-14 years old

The Middle School curriculum is based upon the recommendations and endorsed textbooks as prescribed by the Cambridge International. In addition, high level thinking skills and output skills in English are gained through subjects that nurture global perspectives through research, analysis and discussions.

High School

Age: 14-18 years old

The High School is divided into the Upper Secondary programme (Year 10/11) and the Advanced programme (Year 12/13 which is 2/3 years of high school in the Japanese system). The Upper Secondary students take the IGCSE examinations, a Cambridge International standard examination taken by over 120,000 students around the world, and the Advanced students take the International A Level examinations taken by over 170,000 students around the world. Students aim for the top notch universities in Japan and the world based on their results.
